CHARACTERISTICS OF DANCE COLLECTIVE BRAND PROMOTION
Y.V. Pilipenko, D.A. Filippenkova, P.V Kovaleva, S.V. Vodopetov
This article explores communication practices and branding strategies of dance companies within the context of cultural digitalization and the media-saturated modern environment. The study systematizes promotional methods (event marketing, PR, digital marketing, collaborations, and personalized communications) and identifies key channels (festivals and competitions, street performances, social media, partnership projects, and educational formats). Based on an analysis of Telegram channels belonging to three collectives – HOUSE OF BONCHINCHE, HOUSE OF MAFIA, and FOT FAMILY – a typology of communication strategies is proposed: the «event-energy», «image-performative», and «community-oriented» models. The empirical basis comprises a content analysis of 180 posts over a six-month period and a survey of 120 respondents aged 16–35. The analysis demonstrates that the effectiveness of branding depends on the consistency of chosen methods, visual identity, and audience engagement. A crucial role is played by the synergy between collective branding and the personalized media practices of individual members acting as brand ambassadors. These findings broaden the understanding of dance collectives as subjects of media communication and cultural branding, offering practical insights for other creative groups seeking to enhance their media presence and audience growth. The study concludes that social media serves as the primary communication channel for promoting dance brands, while visual identity, naming, and a cohesive content style are essential for building a sustainable public image. It is established that modern dance collectives have reached a high level of communication maturity and cannot function effectively without systematic management of their brand and media presence.
Keywords: dance collective, communication, image, brand, media branding, social media, visual identity, digital media environment.
USING PRECEDENT VISUAL PHENOMENA IN RIA NOVOSTI'S AI-CARICATURES AS A PUBLICISTIC TECHNIQUE
V.A. Beynenson
The paper considers the category of a precedent visual phenomenon within the framework of the traditional journalistic genre of caricature in a new format – synthetic AI caricature generated using neural networks. The use of precedent phenomena is based on the audience's recognition of images related to the category of background knowledge.
The empirical basis of the work was 288 AI-caricatures published on the RIA Novosti website in October-December 2025. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the use of precedent visual phenomena as a publicistic technique in generated caricatures and to propose a typology of such phenomena.
Based on the results of the content analysis, a variety of precedent visual phenomena is revealed, and their detailed typologization is provided within two groups: originally visual and visualized originally textual phenomena. Originally visual precedent phenomena presuppose the recognition of visual images within an AI caricature, for example, caricatured images of modern and historical figures, allegories, flags, famous places, characters of popular culture, elements of national costume, etc. The visualized originally textual phenomena require correlating the image with its verbal source – allusions, quotations, stable metaphors, sayings, idioms. An important feature of the use of precedent in the practice of RIA Novosti is the combination of several phenomena in one image, which turns the consumption of such content into an "intellectual game" of interpreting caricatures. It is concluded that such a multi-layered interpretation of precedent elements creates the effect of self-found answers for readers, which means it is potentially a powerful journalistic tool.
Keywords: caricature, neuro-caricature, AI-caricature, synthetic caricature, synthetic visual content, neural network, precedent text, precedent phenomenon, RIA Novosti.
SPECIFICITY OF PROMOTING CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS AT THE PRESENT STAGE: THE NIZHNY NOVGOROD EXPERIENCE
N.O. Avtaeva, D.A. Gazetov
This study presents the history of the development of the youth movement in our country from pre-revolutionary times to the present day. The authors propose their own periodization of the formation and functioning of children's and youth organizations: the stage of institutionalization of the children's and youth movement, the stage of formation of mass youth organizations, the stage of functioning of Soviet children's and youth associations, the stage of aberration of the youth movement's values, and the stage of formation of a unifying idea for children's and youth organizations. This article systematizes the technologies for promoting children's and youth organizations in the present era, using the example of regional branches of the All-Russian public organizations "Victory Volunteers," "Movement of the First," "Russian Union of Youth," and "Yunarmiya." The main research methods are historical, axiological, participant observation, and media monitoring. The article concludes that an effective model for promoting youth organizations is built on a combination of several communication levels: traditional media ensure public trust and legitimacy, social media fosters ongoing engagement, instant messaging services facilitate communication, announce media events, and capture the emotional experiences of organization members, branding builds awareness, opinion leaders personalize values, and youth media transform participants into co-authors of communication.
Keywords: promotion of youth organizations, youth associations, youth movement, social networks, media promotion, axiological guidelines, juvenile media.
THE IMAGE OF A RUSSIAN PERSON OF PEOPLE IN MEMORIES OF POLINA ANNENKOVA, THE A. DUMAS’S NOVEL «LE MAITRE D’ARMES» AND THE I. FRAIN’S NOVEL «JE TE SUIVRAI EN SIBERIE»:
THE LINGUISTIC-IMAGOLOGICAL ASPECT
A.A. Kozlova
This article examines the image of the Russian person of the people in three works by French authors concerning the lives and fates of the Decembrists and their wives. The aim of the study is to investigate the mechanisms of reproducing of the Russian people and the Russian person image in French literary works about 19th-century Russia, and how this image functions in the consciousness of French culture readers. The author of the article explores processes of linguistic expression of the image in the texts and the role of the author’s evaluation in shaping stereotypes and perceptions of one nation by another. Comparative and structural methods, continuous sampling method, linguistic observation, component and imagological analysis are employed.
The study of the linguistic tools used by the authors reveals the main components of the selected image. The analysis shows the difference between the authors' attention to the image. Alexandre Dumas focuses on characteristic features of all Russians in general as well as Russian person of people. In contrast, Irène Frain and Polina Annenkova highlight only certain aspects of the image that are most significant in the narrative context. Among the common traits noted by all authors are «natural kindness», «benevolence», «honesty», «naivety», and «loyalty». At the same time, the authors' perspectives on the described situations and their attitudes towards the image differ. The study demonstrates that the denotative and connotative components of the image are determined by the narrative's purpose and the time of the work's creation.
Keywords: Irène Frain's novel «Je te suivrai en Sibérie», Alexandre Dumas's novel «Le maître d'armes», Memories of Polina Annenkova, imagological image, stereotype, concept, reception of the image, image of the Russian person of people.
FEATURES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF COLOR DESIGNATIONS IN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE: SEMANTIC AND DISCURSIVE ASPECTS (USING THE EXAMPLE OF THE COLORONYM GRÜN)
Yu.N. Zintsova, Yu.I. Ermakova
This study is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the semantics and functioning of the coloronym grün ‘green’ in German. The aim of the work is to examine the semantic structure of German-language designations of the color green from a lexical-semantic perspective and to determine the functional and semantic potential of this unit in contemporary German newspaper discourse. The research methods include definitional analysis (based on German dictionaries), componential analysis of composite color designations and phraseological units, and quantitative and contextual analysis of journalistic texts (material – Hamburger Morgenpost edition from 2015–2025, over 700 examples). The results showed that the core of the lexical-semantic field is formed by the direct nominative meaning of the color green, around which shade-specific coloronyms are grouped. The most productive groups were those conveying bright green (23%) and yellowish-green (19%) shades, demonstrating the significance of the semantics of intensity and mixed colors. A large group of phraseological units with the component grün (30 units) was identified and systematized, representing the symbolic meanings of the color green and forming the periphery of the field. An analysis of newspaper discourse demonstrated that, in addition to actualizing dictionary meanings (the color green itself – 45%, nature – 33%), the coloronym grün verbalizes new meanings not recorded in lexicographic sources: a permission signal, proper names, negative emotions, and a person's physical condition. This leads to the conclusion that the color term grün possesses high functional and semantic potential and plays a significant role in the formation of the German linguistic-color worldview.
Keywords: color term, coloronym, linguistic worldview, linguistic-color worldview, phraseological unit, lexical-semantic field, newspaper discourse, semantics, German language.
FEATURES OF TRANSLATION OF LEGAL TERMINOLOGY IN FICTIONAL WORKS (BASED ON J. GRISHAM’S BOOK «THE CLIENT»)
D.A. Borisov
The article focuses on the problems of an equivalent translation of a literary text containing legal vocabulary. A legal thriller, as a popular literary genre, presents two challenges for the translator: first, the translation must be accurate to avoid misleading readers who are not familiar with the legal field, and second, it must be clear to ensure that readers do not have any questions or difficulties while reading. The purpose of our research was to compare legal realities in American and Russian legal discourses and determine the accuracy of their translation. The study was based on the legal thriller «The Client» by J. Grisham and the Russian translation of the novel by T.P. Matz. The study employs analytical, induction, and deduction methods. In the course of the linguistic research, equivalent translation examples of legal terminology were singled out and analyzed. The success of translation is determined by the professional competence of the translator, who, when faced with the need to translate legal terms, not only knows the equivalents of these terms in the target language, but also understands the specific features of legal discourse in both the target and source languages. This allows for the avoidance of non-equivalent or literal translations.
Keywords: translation, translation studies, legal discourse, legal vocabulary, equivalent translation, legal thriller.
THE CONCEPT OF TECHNOLOGICAL SINGULARITY IN CONTEMPORARY SCIENCE FICTION LITERATURE AND POPULAR CULTURE
I.B. Kazakova
Purpose of the study is to examine the interpretative features of the technological singularity theme in popular culture and English-language science fiction literature from the late 20th century to the first quarter of the 21st century. The novelty of the work lies in identifying the humanitarian problems associated with the realization of the technological singularity theme in the works of science fiction writers A. Reynolds, Ch. Stross, T. Chiang, R. Sawyer, N. Stephenson, as well as in science fiction films, TV series, and computer games of the 1990s – first quarter of the 21st century. The main humanitarian issues that contemporary science fiction associates with the advent of the post singularity era include: the problem of preserving individual consciousness and free will in the formation of a collective mind (integrated with a computer network or artificial intelligence); the problem of transforming ethical norms and moral values under conditions of technological superiority and the redefinition of the boundaries of human nature; and the problem of the relationship between the biological and the artificial, as well as personal autonomy in the emergence of «post human» elites. As a result, it is concluded that, despite the diversity of artistic models of the technological singularity, the central concern of the works under study remains the preservation of identity, free will, and moral consciousness in the context of human fusion with artificial intelligence and collective forms of mind.
Keywords: technological singularity, science fiction literature, posthumanism, transhumanism, collective consciousness.
THERE IS NO DEATH, THERE IS ONLY TIME: FACES OF THE MONSTROSITY IN S. KING'S "THE LANGOLIERS"
V.M. Demenyuk
The purpose of this study is to examine the novella «The Langoliers» from the book «Four Past Midnight» by Stephen King through psychoanalytic view. The novelty of this work is that it offers the first comprehensive analysis in Russian-language of one of the most semantically obscured texts by the author, which has a numerous reprints (the story is published both as part of the collection and as a standalone work) and film adaptations (as a closely based on the original text TV adaptation (directed by Tom Holland, 1995) and as a reference though the image of the monster, which appears in works independent of King's text (such as «Rick and Morty» series, «Doctor Who» etc.). An interpretation of the central monstrous image of the story through the theory of Jacques Lacan is proposed. The author's neologism langoliers is interpreted as a derivative of language and langagier, which is included in the field of the Freudian tradition of understanding culture as a taboo on violence and incest. Time, which is personified in the image of the Langoliers, becomes a symbol of the silent and pre-civilizational horror of inhumanity that remains beyond the bounds of norm and culture.
Keywords: Stephen King, Langoliers, Jacques Lacan, psychoanalysis, language, culture.
LANGUAGE, THE BODY, AND THE LIMITS OF THE HUMAN: E.T.A. HOFFMANN’S THE SANDMAN IN SIGMUND FREUD’S INTERPRETATION
S.N. Averkina
The article examines Sigmund Freud’s interpretation of the category of the ʻuncannyʼ in E.T.A. Hoffmann’s novella «The Sandman», as presented in Freud’s essay «Das Unheimliche» (1919), written immediately after the end of the First World War, during a period of crisis in the cultural and anthropological foundations of modernity. It is shown that Freud’s concept of the uncanny functions as a symptom of the loss of trust in rationality and culture as protective mechanisms, as well as an affective response to the blurring of the boundaries of the human. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the motifs of the loss of eyes, bodily dismemberment, the automaton, and compulsive repetition, which Freud associates with castration anxiety and the return of repressed infantile fears. The article substantiates the thesis that in The Sandman horror arises not from an encounter with the radically Other, but from the transformation of the familiar and “homely” into something ominously alien. The linguistic organization of the text – direct speech, recurring formulas, and acoustic signals—is examined as a key mechanism for producing the effect of the uncanny. In conclusion, the article proposes using of Freud’s concept in the context of contemporary debates on transhumanism, automation, and the prosthetic extension of the human body and consciousness. It is argued that the uncanny in Hoffmann and Freud anticipates modern forms of anxiety associated with the loss of subjective integrity and the substitution of the human by the technical. Hoffmann’s novella is interpreted as a literary model of an anthropological crisis that retains its analytical relevance in the twenty-first century. The study employs the cultural–historical method, close reading, and psychoanalytic approaches.
Keywords: E.T.A. Hoffmann, S. Freud, aesthetics of the uncanny, psychoanalysis, corporeality, humanoid mechanisms, limits of the human.
ANALYSIS OF MOTIVATION TO LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY IN THE DIRECTION OF "AIRCRAFT AND HELICOPTER DESIGN". METHODS OF OVERCOMING CRISIS SITUATIONS
IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS
Y.I. Skudalova
The article examines the factors influencing the decrease of students’ motivation at the technical university to learning a foreign language, such as: low level of language proficiency, difficult geopolitical situation in the world, the lack of connection between a foreign language and a future specialty. New requirements for modern specialists in the field of Aircraft and helicopter engineering put forward by the aircraft industry contribute to increasing educational motivation and set guidelines for the development of new practical qualities which are in great demand. The novelty of the article is the analysis of ways of organizing the educational process based on positive emotions, development of ambition for success in intermediate achievements which together contribute to the increase in the level of interest in learning a foreign language.
Keywords: motivation, psychologically comfortable educational environment, aircraft and helicopter design, presentation, soft skills.
PEDAGOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNICATIVE POTENTIAL OF SCHOOLCHILD'S PERSONALITY IN THE PROCESS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION
E.N. Dmitrieva
The purpose of this work is to substantiate the pedagogical strategy and conditions for developing the communicative potential of students in the process of foreign language education. In this article, the focus is on the development of communicative potential as an essential component of a person's personal potential. The significance of this topic lies in the fact that communicative potential encompasses a range of abilities that contribute to the social development of an individual, their successful interaction in society, and the need for its development in the educational process. The period of schooling is a sensitive period for the formation of an individual, and foreign language education is an important humanitarian factor in its development. However, there is a contradiction in the current practice of teaching foreign languages between the need for purposeful development of students' communicative potential as a step towards becoming an active, independent, self-realizing, and self-determining individual in speech communication, on the one hand, and the lack of a well-developed pedagogical strategy and conditions for its development, on the other. The article identifies the structural and content characteristics of communicative potential and establishes the psychological and pedagogical mechanisms of its development in the process of school foreign language education. The novelty of the article lies in the actualization of the concept of "communicative potential" in the context of pedagogical issues of personality development through the subject area of education, the characterization of a developing pedagogical strategy for foreign language education aimed at developing the communicative potential of students, and the identification of conditions that facilitate the implementation of this strategy. The study of this topic has prospects in terms of specific methodological and organizational-technological development of the problem of developing communicative potential at different stages of schooling.
Keywords: communicative potential, personal potential, foreign language education, pedagogical strategy, and pedagogical conditions.
PROJECT DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT AS A FACTOR OF OVERCOMING THE COMMUNICATIVE BARRIER AMONG CHINESE ENGINEERING STUDENTS (BASED ON ETHNOPSYCHOLOGICAL PORTRAIT)
E.A. Wang
The article presents the results of an experimental study conducted at Shenyang Polytechnic University (PRC) in the autumn semester of 2025. The aim of the work is to develop and test a four-stage methodological model for implementing a project-based digital environment to overcome the communicative barrier among Chinese engineering students learning Russian as a foreign language at level A2. The methodological basis comprises the principles of ethnopsychology, methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, as well as psycholinguistic concepts. The study involved 96 students, and the experiment lasted 18 weeks. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, typical difficulties of the Chinese audience are identified: non-communicative learning style, passive position in class, fear of public error. The results showed an increase in communicative activity from 10% to 95%, an increase in intrinsic motivation from 13% to 89%, and a change in growth mindset from 22% to 67%. It is concluded that the project-based digital environment serves as a safe zone for the first speech step, and the ethnopsychological characteristics of Chinese students are not an obstacle but a resource when properly designed methodologically. The research continues in the spring semester of 2026.
Keywords: Chinese students, communicative barrier, project activity, digital environment, ethnopsychological portrait, Russian as a foreign language, mianzi, collectivism.
FORMING GRAMMATICAL SKILLS IN A NON-LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE TOPIC “CONDITIONALS”
A.B. Dyakonova, M.A. Kushnyr
The article discusses the methodological problems of developing stable grammatical skills in the context of limited classroom hours in a non-linguistic university. The relevance of the study is determined by the requirements of modern professional standards implying the future specialists’ ability to engage in intercultural communication, which includes the grammatical correctness of their statements. The object of the study is the process of teaching grammatical aspects of foreign language speech, and the subject is the methodology of developing the skills of using conditional sentences (Conditionals) in non-linguistic fields of study. Based on the analysis of typical errors and difficulties in learning (interference, overgeneralization of rules, and formal memorization), the authors propose a set of tasks aimed at practising these grammar structures.
Keywords: grammar skill, non-linguistic university, foreign language teaching, conditional sentences.
AUTHENTIC PROFESSIONAL TEXTS IN TEACHING STUDENTS OF A MARITIME UNIVERSITY FOREIGN WRITTEN COMMUNICATION
M.V. Moleva
The aim of this study is to identify the specific features of foreign-language written communication in the maritime sphere based on a corpus of authentic ship documentation texts, with the aim of improving the professional foreign-language writing skills of students at maritime universities. The novelty of this article lies in the development of a linguistic and methodological classification of authentic ship documentation texts. This article examines the training of future maritime transport specialists in written English, a foreign language used as a means of communication in international waters. Teaching written English involves developing students' ability to accurately understand and independently create professional foreign-language texts used in foreign-language communication on board ships and in foreign ports. The article examines the specifics of professional situations of verbal communication in the maritime sphere of activity, proposes their typology and description of the main types of English-language professional texts used in real shipboard practice, and develops a possible method for their systematization. The author of the article proposes to classify authentic professional texts in the maritime sphere according to the functionality into routine and urgent ones. The application of this classification to teaching foreign language to students at maritime universities aims to develop students' ability to analyze the extralinguistic parameters of professional communication, such as the function of the message, speech intention, participants in the communication, and the chosen format of the message being created, which determine the writer's verbal behavior and contribute to the production of a verbally appropriate utterance.
Keywords: future maritime transport specialists, means of verbal communication, foreign language written communication, written form of a foreign language, maritime sphere of activity, authentic professional text, extralinguistic parameters of communication.
USING THE TASK-BASED LEARNING METHODOLOGY IN TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN HIGH SCHOOL
L.V. Pavlova, M.O. Antipina
The study aims to analyze the Task–Based Learning (TBL) methodology and determine the potential of this methodology in terms of developing students' skills in constructing hypotheses and critical thinking in the process of mastering a foreign language in high school. In the modern educational paradigm there is a shift from the traditional model of knowledge transmission by the teacher, as the only source of knowledge, to a model where the teacher acts as a facilitator, organizing an adequate educational environment for independent discovery, research and comprehension of the acquired foreign language. The research focuses on identifying specific strategies and techniques that a teacher can apply at various stages of using TBL (Pre-task, Task cycle, Language focus) to stimulate hypothetical-deductive thinking and critical analysis of the information being studied. Problem situations, the use of open-ended questions, group discussion management, and cognitive reflection are suggested as the key tools of the teacher-facilitator used for the successful implementation of the TBL methodology. As a result, it is concluded that the competent implementation of the role of a teacher- facilitator in TBL increases the effectiveness of learning foreign language material and also makes a significant contribution to the formation of the students’ meta-subject competencies that are necessary for successful self-realization in all types of activities.
Keywords: teacher-facilitator, Task-Based Learning (TBL), critical thinking, hypothesis construction, problem-based learning, reflection.
STEREOTYPES AND REALITY IN THE NOVEL «ABSURDISTAN» BY GARY SHTEYNGART
Yu.V. Stulov
The US writer Gary Shteyngart, an immigrant from the USSR, became one of the founders of Russian Jewish literature that is written in English. He continues the tradition of the so-called translingual writers, i. e. authors who write in the adopted language. He, like his characters, has a cultural hybridity that includes Jewish, Russian, and American components of identity. In his work, he addresses the life of Russian Jewish immigrants whose destiny brought them to other countries. The protagonist of his novel “Absurdistan” is the obese lazy Misha Vainberg, son of a Russian oligarch who was killed by mafia. He dreams to go back to the bustling comfortable New York out of the grey decaying St. Leninsburg, out of post-perestroika Russia, which is torn apart by glaring contradictions. His beloved woman lives there. He lived through a personal transformation: he goes through a series of misadventures when he finds himself in the fictional country of Absurdistan on the Caspian Sea where he becomes a witness of the civil war that is waged by the local elites who try to gain the control over oil. They are supported by world powers who want to get access to it. The protagonist tries to acquire an identity at the time of the dismantlement of an epoch and find his place in life. The novel terminates on September 10, 2001 when Misha is about to depart to New York. The Twin Towers will be destroyed on September 11. The open ending follows the logical scheme of the novel giving the readership a chance to think up the protagonist’s future. By combining sarcasm, grotesque, a feeling of sorrow for people who found themselves left in the dust – contrary to the rascals who made use of the collapse of the USSR – Shteyngart has created a political satirical adventure novel that addresses the complex problems of the contemporary world that is pulled apart by antagonisms.
Keywords: American Russian Jewish literature, Gary Shteyngart, cultural hybridity, translingual writer, identity.
INTELLECTUAL DRAMA “YESTERDAY” BY HUGO VON HOFMANNSTHAL
Y.L. Tsvetkov
The research aims to conduct a cultural-historical analysis of the verse drama “Yesterday” (1891) by the seventeen-year-old Austrian poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal (1874-1929), examining it through the lens of the philosophical outlook prevalent at the “fin de siècle.” At its inception, the philosophical system of Andrea, the drama's ephemeral protagonist, clearly articulated impressionistic categories. Ontologically, this represents a conception of subjectively idealistic being (the world is my representation of it). In the realm of epistemology, the method of attaining truth was contingent upon Andrea's fluctuating changes in mood. The axiological significance of such knowledge was short-lived. It is highlighted in the article that Andrei's impressionistic worldview crumbled due to the betrayal of his beloved Arletta, which introduced a new category of duration for Andrea, manifesting as jealousy. The article's novelty stems from its emphasis on the hero's philosophical insight and its refinement of the genre classification of Hofmannsthal's drama. Since objective reality made Andrea unhappy, and the core of the conflict lay in Andrea's will to seriously understand the world, defining the drama "Yesterday" as a comedy proved untenable. It's difficult to name a play a dramatic proverb (according to the theory of drama), in which a universally accepted life principle, experience, or moral instruction is expressed, because one character turned out to be a fleeting person. Nevertheless, his life experience offered a valuable lesson to readers and viewers, and Arlette's character was justifiably subjected to criticism. These elements align Hofmannsthal's intellectual drama with the traditions of Viennese folk comedy, the "moral correction play" genre exemplified by F. Raimund and J. Nestroy, and the dramatic works of Austrian F. Grillparzer, such as “Life is a Dream” and “The Misfortune of Being Honest”. To conclude, one can assert that the drama of the young Hofmannsthal ironically replicates the characteristic “fin de siècle” worldview, extensively utilizing the rich heritage of world dramaturgy.
Keywords: Viennese Modernism literature, verse drama, Impressionist philosophy, conflict as an expression of the will to knowledge, attainment of objective reality, dramaturgical thesis-driven worldview, the play “Yesterday”, H. von Hofmannsthal.
REPRESENTATION AND REINTERPRETATION OF CULTURAL TRADITIONS IN D. LESSING'S DILOGY ABOUT BEN
Y.A. Shanina
The aim of this study is to investigate the forms of cultural representation in the novels «The Fifth Child» (1988) and «Ben, in the World» (2000) by Doris Lessing (1919–2013) in order to determine the cultural context with which the dilogy correlates in the synchronic and diachronic aspects, as well as to establish the meanings of dialogical overlap with works of different eras This will help to understand the problematic of these novels and their artistic originality. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive analysis of Doris Lessing's dilogy about Ben. This analysis will allow us to trace the evolution of her writing and determine the significance of these works within the history of English literature of the last third of the 20th century. Based on the research, the idea behind the novels can be seen as a synthesis of different types of material, such as documentary, popular science, mythology, and art. The author uses various forms of intertextual connections, common plot patterns, and types of characters to create a complex work that can be correlated with a wide range of cultural contexts. This includes elements from medieval Sufi parables, European folklore, and 18th and 19th century literature. As a result, Doris Lessing's work engages in a complex dialogue with both previous literature and contemporary culture, while also maintaining an ambivalent relationship with tradition. While some aspects of social criticism, interdependence between the social and individual, and anthropological themes remain relevant, the writer also explores new ideas and perspectives. On the other hand, the author disrupts the harmonious logic of the plot development in the novel, refuting the optimistic pathos of the enlightenment philosophy. The main character, Ben, still fails to find his place in society and the world, and the dilogy doesn't provide solutions to the social problems presented. By analogy with the Sufi parable, Lessing seeks to challenge stereotypical ideas and encourage the reader to seek answers to fundamental questions about human nature, compassion, and the purpose of life on their own.
Keywords: English novel, dialogue of cultures, D. Lessing, «The Fifth Child», «Ben, in the World», tradition.
LINGUISTIC AND STYLISTIC FEATURES OF FRENCH SURREALIST POETRY (BASED ON THE COLLECTION «CAPITALE DE LA DOULEUR» BY P. ELUARD)
N.A. Voskresenskaya, T.G. Larina
The article is devoted to a comprehensive linguistic and stylistic analysis of the first surrealist collection «Capitale de la douleur» (1926) by P. Eluard in French. It reflects the development of the poet’s unique individual style. The research is based on the linguistic and poetic approach, according to which individual style is understood as a system of formal linguistic methods that organize writer’s artistic world. The purpose of the work is to identify the characteristic features of Eluard’s surrealist poetics at the phonetic, lexico-semantic and syntactic levels. The main attention is paid to linguistic techniques that form surrealistic hyperreality: the destruction of traditional syntax and logical connections, the creation of multifaceted images using various stylistic figures, a certain choice of vocabulary, phonetic organization of the text, etc. By the example of the poem «La courbe de tes yeux», it is shown how the author manages to create a poetic wordplay resorting to such techniques as hypallaga, chiasmus, sound painting, etc., and depict an artistic universe where the beloved becomes a creator goddess, and the love is an instrument of cognition of the world. As a result, it is concluded that P. Eluard’s innovation lies in the transformation of the basic principles of surrealist writing, the use of various stylistic techniques at all levels of language, as well as the creation of unconventional poetic images, symbols and meanings in order to convey the desire for freedom and harmony of inner and outer world and the all-encompassing power of love.
Keywords: P. Eluard, surrealism, linguistic and stylistic analysis, individual style, linguistic techniques, linguistic and poetic approach, French language.
COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES FOR REPRESENTING COMMUNIST IDEOLOGY IN POLITICAL DISCOURSE
(BASED ON PUBLIC SPEECHES OF BRITISH COMMUNISTS)
M.A. Dementeva
The aim of this study is to identify the main communication strategies of British communist ideological discourse from the 1920s to the 1980s, as well as the ways in which they were actualized, using public speeches by leaders and supporters of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) as presented in CPGB archives, the Daily Worker and Morning Star newspapers, and the memoirs of party members. The primary method used for examining the empirical material was critical discourse analysis based on the theory of T. van Dijk and N. Fairclough. The novelty of this study lies in the creation of a systematic and structured description of the key communication strategies of British communism during the period under study. The focus is on three main strategies – agitation, persuasion, and discreditation – which are widely represented in the text corpora studied. The study demonstrates that the agitation strategy is implemented through the tactics of promise, appeal, and reasoned assessment. The persuasion strategy is represented in discourse through logical argumentation, emotional appeals, and threats. The discreditation strategy is verbalized in speech through accusation and negative prediction. The study identified key linguistic features of the representation of each tactic and described their frequency of use in speech. Each of these tactics complements one another, achieving the primary goal of communist political rhetoric ‒ effectively influencing public opinion in order to gain, maintain, and strengthen power.
Keywords: political linguistics, lingua-pragmatics, critical discourse analysis, political discourse, communication strategies and tactics.
ADJECTIVE SECONDARY PREDICATION IN RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH: TRANSLATION ASPECT
A.I. Ermakov, Yu.N. Zintsova
The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of secondary predication in Russian and English with an emphasis on the adjectival type and the features of its translation. The aim of the work is to identify similarities and differences in the functioning of secondary subjective predication in the two languages and to identify strategies for its transmission in translation. The methods used are theoretical analysis of linguistic concepts, a comparative approach, and a corpus analysis of parallel texts in D. Setterfield's novel The Thirteenth Tale (353 sentences in English and 307 in Russian). The main results of the study showed that in the English-language corpus, secondary subjective predication is relatively low in the literary text (frequency ~3%). The analysis of translations revealed that in 9 out of 11 cases, the adjectival secondary predication persists without syntactic transformations, being realized in the Russian language mainly through participial and adjectival turns (semi-predication). It is noted that for the Russian language this construction is more natural due to the absence of the need for a verb-a bundle between a noun and an adjective. As a result, it is concluded that the secondary adjectival predication in Russian and English has a similar semantic nature and performs similar syntactic functions. When translating, its preservation, as a rule, does not cause difficulties due to the structural parallels between languages, which confirms the thesis about the fundamental translatability of this phenomenon.
Keywords: secondary predication, translation, translation strategies, semi-predicativity, subjective predication, syntax, English, Russian.
THE CONCEPT OF "SCROLLYTELLING" IN ACADEMIC DISCOURSE AND MEDIA PRACTICE
K.A. Boldina
The purpose of this study is to analyze existing approaches to defining scrollytelling in academic research and professional practice, identify key conceptual discrepancies, and determine whether scrollytelling is predominantly viewed as a technological method of audience engagement or as a particular variety of storytelling in the digital environment. The novelty of the article lies in a comparative analysis of academic discourse on scrollytelling based on a systematic examination of 50 English-language empirical studies, which for the first time makes it possible to identify the features of the format’s conceptualization. The analysis establishes that in English-language academic literature, scrollytelling is unambiguously considered as a technological method of engagement, defined through parameters of visual narrative flow, types of navigational control, and methods of synchronizing content with user actions. In Russian academic discourse, represented by works in communication theory, scrollytelling can be interpreted within the broader concept of storytelling. The conclusion is drawn that scrollytelling should be defined as a hybrid digital format in which the technological capabilities of interactive scrolling serve as a means of enhancing emotional impact and audience engagement, while its effectiveness is determined by the quality of integration between technological and narrative approaches.

THE SCOPE OF THE LEXEMES "INFLUENCERS", "BLOGGERS" AND "CELEBRITIES" IN MODERN MEDIA COMMUNICATION
T.V. Medvedeva, S.V. Vodopetov
The work is devoted to the analysis of how the meanings and spheres of use of the lexemes "blogger", "influencer" and "celebrity" converge in modern media communication. It is shown that since the mass spread of social networks (2006-2010), publicity has become platform‒based, and influence has become measurable and commercialized, which has caused a shift in focus in the selection of public figures. In mass discourse, promotion and influence on the audience become key functions, which leads to the interchangeability of these lexemes. To solve professional problems of advertising and PR, a model of differentiation of concepts is proposed.

CULTURE OF INFORMATION CONSUMPTION OF RUSSIAN YOUTH: A THEORETICAL AND CULTURAL ANALYSIS
M.B. Rotanova
The article is devoted to a theoretical and cultural analysis of the phenomenon of information consumption culture among Russian youth in the context of the media landscape digital transformation. The relevance of the study is determined by the emergence of fundamentally new interaction models of the generation of digital natives with information. For young people the traditional boundaries between content consumers and producers are blurring, and information consumption has become an integral part of social practice and self-identification. The aim of the study is to conceptualize information consumption culture as an interdisciplinary category through cultural, media several and social psychology approaches. The methodological framework is based on L.S. Vygotsky's cultural-historical theory, M. McLuhan's concept of media, G.U. Soldatova's theory of digital socialization, and P. Bourdieu's sociological concept of habitus. As a result of the research it is proposed a structural model of information consumption culture, comprising four interconnected components: cognitive (the critical analysis of information), axiological-normative (the formation of ethical attitudes in the digital environment), behavioral (established media habits), and identificational (the construction of a "digital self" through information practices). It is established that the contemporary information consumption culture of youth is characterized by: 1) the dominance of social media as an environment for social interaction, 2) attention fragmentation, 3) the formation of "information bubbles" due to algorithmic content filtering, and the information transformation from an object of consumption into a tool for social identification. A key conclusion is the necessity of transforming media education from a technical-instrumental approach toward fostering holistic information-cultural competence, encompassing critical thinking, ethical reflection, and a conscious attitude toward digital practices.
